What are the primary needs of the ILC right now? To continue to cling to the Christ of the Holy Bible as the Savior of the world; to tenaciously hold to Jesus' true Word the real Holy Scriptures amidst the Satanic substitutes being promulgated these days;, and, to gather others into Christ's Church, the Communion of Saints. We do in our Bible classes at times, and we are currently printing portions of the Triglot Concordia Book of Concord in our ILC Journal in order to encourage more people to read and study them.
Do the ILC congregations offer Bible class year-round or only during the academic year? We do not believe that anyone needs "time-off" from God's Word! Do the ILC congregations ever have worship services during the mid-week? Some do; it varies based upon the individual congregation's wishes.
Some have midweek Advent and Lenten services; some do not because of members' secular work schedules which make attendance impossible. How often is the Lord's Supper offered? Do you have communion announcements? Private confession and absolution? Holy Communion is offered once-a-month in all ILC congregations as the general practice. As a rule we do not have communion announcements, but communicants are alerted to properly prepare for the Sacrament in advance. Of course, we practice "Close Communion.

Does the ILC do outreach and evangelism? If so, what ways? Every Christian among us is a missionary, for we are all to witness for Christ Jesus our Lord in our daily lives. We encourage personal witnessing as a primary evangelism tool. Some of us also place Scriptural tracts in public places, and newspaper ads are sometimes run. Do the ILC pastors hold secular employment? Most do. Paul was a tent-maker, and we too do what we must to live in this world. Does the ILC have a doctrinal position on cremation?

The Holy Bible does not forbid cremation. However, burial is consistently referred to in the bible as far as the disposing of the bodies of believers is concerned, and consequently is preferable e. Nevertheless, regardless of how one's body returns to dust, the Lord will positively call it forth on the Last Day, "Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming, in the which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice, And shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation.
Also, think of what happens if a Christian is burned to death in a house, automobile, plane, or train fire— that person has been cremated, albeit involuntarily.

We Christians certainly should not desire to imitate the heathen. However, if a terrible epidemic swept an area and cremation was deemed necessary to halt its spread, no objection could be rightly raised on Biblical grounds.
Some have attempted to use the following Scripture as proof against cremation: "There shall not be found among you any one that maketh his son or his daughter to pass through the fire Why or why not? They sound like current buzz-words used in the charismatic churches of today.

Some ILC church-members in the past have rented space from other denominations for weddings. We do not encourage it, but rather advise against it, lest we appear to be in fellowship with erring church bodies.
Therefore, we prefer not to make any use of the church buildings of those not of our fellowship. Do the children of the ILC go to public schools, other parochial schools, or are they mostly home-schooled? What counsel do you offer parents about their children's education? The children do not attend other parochial schools schools of churches with whom we are not in fellowship ; most attend public schools; many are home-schooled.
It is important that proper religious instruction be attended to in the home on a daily basis regardless of whether the children are home-schooled or attend public school. The counsel we offer to parents is this: "And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord. All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.
Also, we agree wholeheartedly with Luther's advice found in the preface to the Small Catechism: "Therefore I entreat [and adjure] you all for God's sake, my dear sirs and brethren, who are pastors or preachers, to devote yourselves heartily to your office, to have pity on the people who are entrusted to you, and to help us inculcate the Catechism upon the people, and especially upon the young.
As of March , about 1, people are baptized members of LCR congregations. Paul E. Kretzmann suspended church-fellowship with some congregations after they charged him with teaching error in class. These congregations formed the Concordia Lutheran Conference , while the others, along with Kretzmann, joined with more conservatives leaving the Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod to organize as the LCR. The LCR discussed church-fellowship with the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod in the s, but declared that the differences regarding the doctrine of Church and Ministry were divisive of church-fellowship in July The Fellowship of Lutheran Congregations FLC , is a group of congregations that left the LCR in after a dispute concerning the proper procedure of excommunication.
The ILC was organized in after three congregations left the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synodin protest when a pastor was suspended because of claims he made regarding the King James Version of the Bible. The LCR severed the fellowship because of differences discovered during the controversy over the "appearance of evil". In February , five congregations and four pastors suspended church-fellowship with the rest of the LCR when, in the wake of a disagreement regarding the doctrine of the ministry, an LCR congregation was dissolved through legal action by certain members, most of whom were female, who disagreed with their pastor.
This led to accusations of female suffrage by one side and legalism by the other. The LCR was never asked by both sides of the congregation to adjudicate the division. The congregations that suspended fellowship in February withdrew their membership from the LCR in April after a special convention called to address the controversy refused to discuss the matter of female suffrage and the aforementioned dissolution. A position paper titled The Ministry and Auxiliary Office with Respect to Legalism that was presented at that conference in an attempt to resolve the controversy has since been adopted unanimously by the remaining congregations of the LCR.
Another LCR position paper titled Liberty or Death written to draw attention to different kinds of legalism was subsequently adopted in July A sixth congregation, in Hudson, Michigan , later withdrew from the LCR over the same issues, and remains independent.
